Welcome to Wild Tasmania...

All over the world old growth forests are under threat, and nowhere more so than in Tasmania. Here, logging for wood pulp and chip threatens a wide variety of habitats and animals, including Australia’s largest bird of prey, the Tasmanian wedge-tailed eagle.

The ancient eucalypt forest is habitat for eagles, Tasmanian devils and the basis of a diverse ecosystem but it also represents thousands of tonnes of fine quality timber, woodchip and profitable pulp.

New threats are emerging, but the eagle’s story holds hope for new life.
